For Ward 9 City Council
Having served three terms as a Trustee and Chairman of the Regina Public School Board, I have learned how important it is for all levels of government to work together. I know citizens are not well-served when governments make decisions independent of each other. I believe, even more so in these unprecedented days, we need to work together. We need to ensure the city of Regina is supported by every level of government and that we put Regina people first.
Former Deputy Minister of Education and Former Director of Education at Regina Public Schools
“Katherine is a highly-principled and effective community leader. She has already demonstrated her ability to deal with complex issues, while maintaining the relationships with all levels of government to get the job done. I believe that Katherine’s unique blend of integrity and thoughtful pragmatism will make her both an effective advocate for Regina’s citizens and a strong consensus-builder on Regina City Council”
What I Bring To City Council:
I will work to ensure the City of Regina has appropriate funding for growth, infrastructure and neighbourhood development. I will take sensible approaches to economic recovery.
As a trustee with the Regina Public School Board, with 8 of those years as Chairman, I oversaw an annual budget of $240 million while listening to and responding to the voice of Regina residents (students, parents, employees, stakeholders and community members).
I am the General Manager of Junior Achievement in Saskatchewan. I've spent the past 16 years working to ensure our youth are positioned for a strong future. I have international cross-cultural experience working extensively throughout South East Asia as the Economic Affairs Manager for SGS Hong Kong and SGS Asia Pacific.
For the past 11 years, I worked to advocate for the citizens of Regina and have a proven record of working with all levels of government to improve and strengthen infrastructure.
I have a proven track record of working collaboratively; in the past 10 years, I have been focused on meeting the challenges of a growing city resulting in 8 new school builds with another 3 committed.
I believe strongly in public service and I want to serve you as Councillor for Ward 9.
I live in northwest Regina with my husband Dean Gagne. We are the proud parents of three adult daughters.
